"Humanity"

I'm back in school and I went to my first Reflexion meeting of the year. Reflexion is the spoken word group I'm a part of. We had a workshop where we all drew out of a hat a word written on a small piece of paper. My word was Humanity. We had 15mns or so. This is my first piece since the summer Spoken word Thursday nights...

“Humanity”

I am Human
I am a man
I am strong and I am weak
Through valleys and peaks
I’ve conquered this world
To which I was hurled, through my mother’s womb
I am Human
I am a woman
I am strong and I am love
Through A life B world & c all of the above
I have conquered through my ways
I am Human
I am people
I am weak and I am feeble
I am strong willed and I am free
I am lost and in captivity
I have created…
Words, poetry, and music
Architecture, love, and laughter
But through all this creation I don’t really know what I am after
You see? Sages and masters have figured it out
They lived simple lives and were happy without a doubt
True humans who accept their fate: enjoy every moment
Every breath of fresh air
Every fall and every tear, in their jeans
Not store bought but put there by chance
Like humanity.
I am Human
And I am ME
An individual; who’s learned to BE
Be silly and NUTZ
Be friendly and a cluts
Be Human by how you love
Be nature by how you live
Be laughter and give….back
Everything you have to this world
To this life
To this Humanity
I am Human
And you are me
We are one; he is she
We are what we eat, what we speak, what we live.

(apparently I unknowingly quoted the Beatles)
